Most of my critters are up for adoption from more than one method of adopting, and you can view these specific methods on each uploaded image. Below is the big daddy of dray's adoption methods -- and the rules that come with 'em. Please read them thoroughly before adopting from me to avoid any confusion or misunderstandings. Similarly, if something is not covered here, or doesn't seem clear, please comment and let me know!
Kinds of AdoptablesTemplates/Semi-CustomsMost of my adoptables are based on limited-run templates; for example, I will make a clutch of ten dragons that share the same image but are coloured differently. Once those ten are adopted, the template is retired and is not used again. Some templates work as a base that is altered between clutches, such as most adoptables from my
Nidus Corona-born clutches. I will note in each upload if the images are template-based or not, the better to judge their shininess as collectibles!
CustomsI make these rarely, usually as commissions, trades, or birthday presents for friends. Customs are single images that are used for one adoptable critter and then retired. There are no doubles, not even those that are altered in physical attributes. Customs are by no means available for click-and-take, and will only ever be up for grabs via a contest. Please do not take those that don't belong to you!
EggsI rarely make egg-style adoptions, though when I do, they are generally linked to template-based adoptables. Eggs can give an idea of the colour of the resulting creature while maintaining an element of surprise; eggs are sometimes cheaper via points-based adoptions! I may vary the egg-style adoptable with a 'youth' or 'hatchling' style adoptable. In this case, the uploaded images will be of younger versions of the final, adult version of the critter. The critter will 'grow' based upon how quickly you page the earlier stages.
BreedingsMost of my critters are bred from older generations of critters -- for example, most of the dragons adopted from
Nidus Corona are bred from the dragons living at that location. If you are looking for me to do a breeding between two of your adoptables, I'm game for it, so long as the original owner of those critters allows such treatment of their adoptables! Similarly, you may breed any creature that you receive from me to your other adoptables or your own creations, assuming that the creators of the other adoptables allow such treatment! (You may wish to observe certain restrictions, such as size differences or species compatibility, though with my creatures, these are guidelines instead of strict rules.)
Methods of AdoptionGiveawaysOccasionally, I will have a first-come, first-served giveaway, where people simply have to claim the image to keep it. In this case, I will PM the owners with the whole image, and they can page it on an off-site webpage, or they can upload that image to their deviant-art account
so long as they give credit to me as the artist.
Click-and-Takes/Blank Template GiveawaysRarely, I will make critters that others can take and use as they want, or bases that colourists can use for their own purposes. Such examples will be clearly marked on the image entry and I would strongly appreciate
being given credit as the artist for them. Because of the nature of these particular brand of adoptable, more than one person can use the same image or start with the same base. These are a special case, however, so be sure to read the info for each upload, as most critters will not fall under this classification!
Points-BasedMost of my adoptables will have several varieties of adoption; points-based will usually be an option as a 'quick sale' method. In this case, the adopter must lay claim to the image in a comment, and when they have paid the amount of points required, I will PM them with the original image, and the image will no longer be up for grabs. In the case that two people ask for the same image, I will go with the earlier comment; if the earlier comment can not or will not pay the required points, I will move on to the next commenter and offer them the image.
Redraw-BasedSome of my adoptables will be available in the case of 'draw your version of this critter, and you can have it!' In this case, the adopter must also lay claim to the image in a comment, and when they have posted a link back to their re-draw of the original, I will PM them with the original image. Again, in the event that more than one person wants the same critter, I will hold it for the earliest comment, and if they can not or will not post a link back to their redraw, I will offer it up to the next commenter.
Stories/Stats PagesAll of my adoptables will be available to those who make a care-taker character. In this case, you might make a character and put him/her on a webpage, or upload her with information to deviantart. Submitting this character to me, I will pair him/her up with either a random critter from the batch I've uploaded, or the critter of your choice. You may hold a particular critter and write a story about your character befriending the critter, though if more than one person wants the critter, I will hold it for the earliest commenter for a designated amount of time. If you can't get a story or page up for your character, the critter will be offered to the next commenter.
Trades• I sometimes allow a trade between adoptables. Generally, I accept draconic creatures with interesting features. I sometimes accept humanoids, though not anthropomorphic characters. I do not accept wolves, dogs or horses as trades. If you have a pre-made image and want to trade it for one that I have uploaded, leave a comment and we can come to an agreement.
• I may make a custom trade with you; PM me for details. Custom trades involve the following: re-draws of characters (I draw one of your existing creatures if you draw one of mine, similar to an art trade.); breedings and clutches (I draw a clutch full of critters from two parents that you specify, if you do the same for me.); redraws of critters (I draw an adoptable from your species or from a species that you enjoy if you do the same for me.)
• I may do line-art trades, or trades for colourists where we allow one another to use pre-shaded templates to make newly patterned critters. Again, PM me to hash out details.
Commissions• I take commissions for adoptables, similar to points-based adoptions. PM me for details of the creature that you wish to see made. I'm willing to draw custom images, re-draws of pre-existing adopted critters, template-based clutches from a breeding, or line-art which you can use in the future for other adoptables.
• Prices are determined by the complexity of the commission you're asking for, and the amount of use that you're getting out of the end result; flat-colours and cell-shaded images will be cheaper than rendered clutches of adoptables; lineart will be more expensive because I am giving you the right to use my art over and over again for different critters.
General PricesSingle, Custom Image: $20-$40 depending upon the complexity.
Custom Critter, with up to three stages: $30-$90, depending upon complexity
A litter/clutch of template-based, single-stage critters: $40-60, depending upon complexity and number of critters in the clutch.
A litter/clutch of templated-based critters with more than one stage (egg/youth/adult, for example): $60-$100 depending upon complexity and number of critters in the clutch.
A litter/clutch of single-stage custom-image critters (each critter is drawn differently): $50-$100 depending upon complexity and number of critters
A litter/clutch of multi-stage, custom-image critters (egg/youth/adult, each drawn separately): $100+ depending upon complexity and number of critters (I'm assuming that you're going for more than two or three, here! It may be less if there are that few.)
Lineart, no shading: $50; you must credit me as the artist of the linework, however you may colour it and dispense adoptables using it as often as you like.
Lineart, including shading (sent as a psd): $150; you must credit me as the artist of the linework, however you may colour it and dispense adoptables using it as often as you like.
What I'll take Commissions For• Dragons
• Humans and humanoids (think elves, fairies, zombies, robots, etc.)
• canine and feline critters
• critters that you have adopted from other artists
• critters of a species that you own
• Cosplays that do not violate copyright laws
What I would prefer not to take in Commissions• Furries/Anthropomorphic creatures
• Horses (I'm sorry, I'm just not as versed with drawing 'em!)
• Content with sexual themes (Nuzzling, cuddling is okay, though anything beyond G-rated is not)
• Overly violent themes (Snarling, posturing, bruising and scratches are okay, though guts and gore are not.)
• Cosplays that violate copyright laws
• Adoptables that you do not have permission to own
If you have any questions about commissions, PM me! My turn-around rate is usually about two weeks, though smaller commissions can be finished faster, and more complex ones may take longer.
Rules1)
Do Not Take Images That Don't Belong To You! This goes for any and every adoptable on Deviantart and off of it. Please respect the artists and one another!
2) Link back to this page or to my
main gallery when you page your dragon or critter!
• If you are paging your creature on deviantart, please credit me specifically as the artist in the upload's info!
• If you are paging your creature to a website, such as freewebs, please post the URL back to this gallery or my main gallery.
• Please toss me a link on my gallery's main page when you post something. I'd like to know where my critters wind up going!
3) In regards to breedings: I will take breedings with creatures compatible and given permission to breed to make clutches/litters/offspring. My creatures are all breedable with others that are compatible and which have permission to be used in such a fashion: in short, if you would like to draw a clutch of offspring, using one of my critters as a parent, go for it! Please link to the clutch as a comment to my gallery if you do so!
4) Keep things G-rated! This goes for any contests and re-draws that may occur over the course of this gallery's existence. Sexual content and extreme violence are not allowed.
5) Please respect copy-right laws for various cosplays and media-inspired critters; similarities between the adoptable and the original character that inspired it are okay to a certain extent, but direct copies are not.
(Rules and info are subject to change, especially as I get established. You may wish to re-read this entry again from time to time to get acquainted with any changes!)
