It's that time of year again! :iconnexusdragonadoptions: is hosting a winter gather in which participants can submit winter-themed dragons and pets and receive a grabbag of critters in return! Artwork submissions should go to dracothrope (That's me!) You can continue to submit winter-themed dragons, pets and adoptables until December 31st, 2011. After that, anyone who wants to participate need only sign up -- but those sign-ups will be open starting January 1st, 2012. (Click the header image to get more info.)

:bulletblue:Zazeyo Eyele - Number Race! (FREE!)
:bulletwhite:Adeyon Eyele - Draw to Adopt Contest (FREE!)
:bulletyellow:Azoniath Eyele - Points Flatsale (:points:)
:bulletblue:Sera Donalite - Cash or Points FlatSale ($/:points:)
:bulletgreen:Clara Landwerlen Cash or Points Flatsale ($/:points:)

:star:Polls and Such:star:
I'm considering making multiples from the same template of Sera and Clara and reducing the price/points of both gals.
Question to you!: Would y'all be interested in seeing cheaper multiples using the same template, or does having uniques that are more pricey appeal?

Future Contests:
Question: What sorts of contests would you like to see in the future? I am considering writing contests ('bond this dragon with a written blurb from the bonding character's point of view', for example,) RP snippets, more games like hot potato, guess the door, enter-for-a-surprise, etc. Would you like more in depth contests that require participation, or quick games? How about continued participation, like RP events?

Breedings:
Question: What do you enjoy most about breedable adoptables? Markings intermingling? Seeing hybrid or mutant features? Creating new, distinct personalities? RPing your characters having children?
Question2: Would you be interested, if I put up a 'stud of the month' or something similar, wherein I'll post an adoptable that is muuuch cheaper from which you can breed offspring from your own adoptables? If so, what would you be most interested in: dragons, humanoids, wolves, cats, etc?

:star:Custom Breeding/Clutch Pricing:star:
(These prices may change from time to time, but unless stated otherwise in a specific deviation, below is my ubiquitous list as of December 2011. Any cash payments can be made to paypal, while points-payments can be made via donation. If you want to do some haggling, feel free to toss me a note!)

:iconcryforeverplz:Q: Why are your adoptables so expensive?
A: Each image takes me between 1.5-2.5 hours to make. I'm pricing each image or template base at a little under minimum wage, which, as a professional artist, ain't too shabby. I'm willing to haggle down prices, but my main motivation is to make awesome art that you can enjoy having snagged, similar to a commission of a portrait or an icon pack, but interactive!

Breedings
(These are generic clutch sizes. You can change the number of offspring in total or just the number you want to keep. The entire set's pricing will be divided based upon how many offspring are born, up to a max of 20 -- though if there are heaps of babies, I'll be spending less time on markings.)

:bulletred: Random Clutch or Litter:

:bulletred:Price: $3.30 or 266:points:
:bulletred:Litter Size: 4 recoloured images, one stage each (adult.) You choose the parents, so long as they aren't restricted for breedings.
:bulletred:You Get: 1 offspring from the litter or clutch, the other three are put up for adoption for $5 or 400:points: each.
:bulletred:Limitations: Please don't farm cheaper images by asking for random breedings over and over!

:bulletred:Custom Clutch or Litter

:bulletred:Price $5 or 400:points:
:bulletred:Litter Size: 4 recoloured images, one stage each (adult.) You choose the parents, so long as they aren't restricted for breedings.
:bulletred:You Get: 1 custom coloured offspring from the litter or clutch (I'll need a reference sheet or idea of colour combo, and have the right to negotiate for more money or points if your markings/colour set are quite complicated.) The other three offspring are put up for adoption for $5 or 400:points: each.

:bulletred:Unique Clutch or Litter

:bulletred:Price: $12 or 960:points:
:bulletred:Litter Size: 1 unique image.
:bulletred:You Get: 1 offspring from the litter or clutch. This will be the only lineart of its kind.

:bulletred:Custom Unique Clutch or Litter

:bulletred:Price: $15 or 1200:points:
:bulletred:Litter Size: 1 unique image.
:bulletred:You Get: 1 custom coloured offspring. (I'll need a reference sheet or idea of colour combo, and have the right to negotiate for more money or points if your markings/colour set are quite complicated.) This will be the only lineart of its kind.

Custom Adoptable Characters
(These are a png-style full-body portrait of a critter of your choice; if you'd like a redraw of your species, have a random neat idea, or want to see your character as an adoptable, this's the place for you.)

:bulletred:Limited Run Custom Adoptable

:bulletred:Price: $10-$12 or 800-960:points: depending on the complexity of the adoptable creature you'd like. I won't draw species that are not open for others to draw, are copyrighted, or are otherwise restricted. I will, however, draw a unique adoptable of a species you own or have permission to create new characters for. If you would like an adoptable of the same or similar species as one featured in my gallery, we can negotiate.
:bulletred:The Run: 4 adoptable images of a unique origin.
:bulletred:You Get: 1 custom coloured adoptable image based upon a reference sheet you provide. (I reserve the right to negotiate a higher price if the adoptable you want is quite complicated.) The other 3 adoptable images will be recolours using the same lineart, and will be up for breed-or-adopt for $5 or 400:points: as listed above.

:bulletred:Unique Adoptable

:bulletred:Price: $15-$20 or 1200-1600:points: depending on the complexity of the adoptable creature you'd like. I won't draw species that are not open for others to draw, are copyrighted, or are otherwise restricted. I will, however, draw a unique adoptable of a species you own or have permission to create new characters for. If you would like an adoptable of the same or similar species as one featured in my gallery, we can negotiate.
:bulletred:You Get: 1 unique image based upon the species and colour combo of your choice. This will be the only lineart of its kind.

What Can I Do with Dray's Adopt Images?
:bulletred: Please do not steal art that you haven't purchased!
:bulletred: Do not claim the artwork as your own -- if the unique adoptable is based off of your own intellectual property, that's cool, just credit the drawing-side of things! ^_^
:bulletgreen: Please always credit drayadopts or dracothrope (my other account!)
:bulletgreen: Breed offspring to your own adoptables, barring specific restrictions
:bulletgreen: Use for stories, RP, or your adoptables hoard of images

 Have a lovely day! I appreciate doing business with you!

Happy Monster Day everyone! February 16th is a much day celebrated across the tubes and is a time honoured tradition among nerds and creatives alike.

What does Monster Day entail? Pop in some Monster-based movies or music, whip out the marked down Valentine's Day candy (or some healthy snacks, if you prefer) and draw monsters! Since this is an adoptables account, let's draw some monstrous adopts! :D

Over at the Nexus (You may have to register to see the thread) we've just decided on our Dragon Draw theme: 'Darkness'! (This dovetails nicely with Monster Day!)

Participating in Dragon Draw rounds means that you draw some dragons based on the theme (you can use a template you've made with several colour variations if you like, or draw uniques), put them into pot to get shuffled, and receive some dragon adoptables back! Since this is off of DeviantArt, you get the image as a png and can page it on another website (like freewebs); you could always redraw it to import it to DeviantArt, or ask the original artist to upload it so that you can add it to an adoptables collection!

This month's theme is going to be wicked. >:)

Ever wanted to get in on a character image exchange?

Over at the Nexus, we're hosting a monthly dragon trade that's based around a specific theme. Last month's were 'amphibious dragons'. This month, we'll be voting on a theme between February 9th and February 16th!

For the rest of the month, participants may draw their image, and at the end of the month, we shuffle up the results and pass them around!

Join the fun! You don't even have to draw to participate; you can also sign up just to receive dragons, though contributing definitely has its perks.

Some examples of my contributions from last month:

Most of my critters are up for adoption from more than one method of adopting, and you can view these specific methods on each uploaded image. Below is the big daddy of dray's adoption methods -- and the rules that come with 'em. Please read them thoroughly before adopting from me to avoid any confusion or misunderstandings. Similarly, if something is not covered here, or doesn't seem clear, please comment and let me know!

Kinds of Adoptables
Templates/Semi-Customs
Most of my adoptables are based on limited-run templates; for example, I will make a clutch of ten dragons that share the same image but are coloured differently. Once those ten are adopted, the template is retired and is not used again. Some templates work as a base that is altered between clutches, such as most adoptables from my Nidus Corona-born clutches. I will note in each upload if the images are template-based or not, the better to judge their shininess as collectibles!

Customs
I make these rarely, usually as commissions, trades, or birthday presents for friends. Customs are single images that are used for one adoptable critter and then retired. There are no doubles, not even those that are altered in physical attributes. Customs are by no means available for click-and-take, and will only ever be up for grabs via a contest. Please do not take those that don't belong to you!

Eggs
I rarely make egg-style adoptions, though when I do, they are generally linked to template-based adoptables. Eggs can give an idea of the colour of the resulting creature while maintaining an element of surprise; eggs are sometimes cheaper via points-based adoptions! I may vary the egg-style adoptable with a 'youth' or 'hatchling' style adoptable. In this case, the uploaded images will be of younger versions of the final, adult version of the critter. The critter will 'grow' based upon how quickly you page the earlier stages.

Breedings
Most of my critters are bred from older generations of critters -- for example, most of the dragons adopted from Nidus Corona are bred from the dragons living at that location. If you are looking for me to do a breeding between two of your adoptables, I'm game for it, so long as the original owner of those critters allows such treatment of their adoptables! Similarly, you may breed any creature that you receive from me to your other adoptables or your own creations, assuming that the creators of the other adoptables allow such treatment! (You may wish to observe certain restrictions, such as size differences or species compatibility, though with my creatures, these are guidelines instead of strict rules.)

Methods of Adoption
Giveaways
Occasionally, I will have a first-come, first-served giveaway, where people simply have to claim the image to keep it. In this case, I will PM the owners with the whole image, and they can page it on an off-site webpage, or they can upload that image to their deviant-art account so long as they give credit to me as the artist.

Click-and-Takes/Blank Template Giveaways
Rarely, I will make critters that others can take and use as they want, or bases that colourists can use for their own purposes. Such examples will be clearly marked on the image entry and I would strongly appreciate being given credit as the artist for them. Because of the nature of these particular brand of adoptable, more than one person can use the same image or start with the same base. These are a special case, however, so be sure to read the info for each upload, as most critters will not fall under this classification!

Points-Based
Most of my adoptables will have several varieties of adoption; points-based will usually be an option as a 'quick sale' method. In this case, the adopter must lay claim to the image in a comment, and when they have paid the amount of points required, I will PM them with the original image, and the image will no longer be up for grabs. In the case that two people ask for the same image, I will go with the earlier comment; if the earlier comment can not or will not pay the required points, I will move on to the next commenter and offer them the image.

Redraw-Based
Some of my adoptables will be available in the case of 'draw your version of this critter, and you can have it!' In this case, the adopter must also lay claim to the image in a comment, and when they have posted a link back to their re-draw of the original, I will PM them with the original image. Again, in the event that more than one person wants the same critter, I will hold it for the earliest comment, and if they can not or will not post a link back to their redraw, I will offer it up to the next commenter.

Stories/Stats Pages
All of my adoptables will be available to those who make a care-taker character. In this case, you might make a character and put him/her on a webpage, or upload her with information to deviantart. Submitting this character to me, I will pair him/her up with either a random critter from the batch I've uploaded, or the critter of your choice. You may hold a particular critter and write a story about your character befriending the critter, though if more than one person wants the critter, I will hold it for the earliest commenter for a designated amount of time. If you can't get a story or page up for your character, the critter will be offered to the next commenter.

Trades
• I sometimes allow a trade between adoptables. Generally, I accept draconic creatures with interesting features. I sometimes accept humanoids, though not anthropomorphic characters. I do not accept wolves, dogs or horses as trades. If you have a pre-made image and want to trade it for one that I have uploaded, leave a comment and we can come to an agreement.
• I may make a custom trade with you; PM me for details. Custom trades involve the following: re-draws of characters (I draw one of your existing creatures if you draw one of mine, similar to an art trade.); breedings and clutches (I draw a clutch full of critters from two parents that you specify, if you do the same for me.); redraws of critters (I draw an adoptable from your species or from a species that you enjoy if you do the same for me.)
• I may do line-art trades, or trades for colourists where we allow one another to use pre-shaded templates to make newly patterned critters. Again, PM me to hash out details.

Commissions
• I take commissions for adoptables, similar to points-based adoptions. PM me for details of the creature that you wish to see made. I'm willing to draw custom images, re-draws of pre-existing adopted critters, template-based clutches from a breeding, or line-art which you can use in the future for other adoptables.
• Prices are determined by the complexity of the commission you're asking for, and the amount of use that you're getting out of the end result; flat-colours and cell-shaded images will be cheaper than rendered clutches of adoptables; lineart will be more expensive because I am giving you the right to use my art over and over again for different critters.

General Prices
Single, Custom Image: $20-$40 depending upon the complexity.
Custom Critter, with up to three stages: $30-$90, depending upon complexity
A litter/clutch of template-based, single-stage critters: $40-60, depending upon complexity and number of critters in the clutch.
A litter/clutch of templated-based critters with more than one stage (egg/youth/adult, for example): $60-$100 depending upon complexity and number of critters in the clutch.
A litter/clutch of single-stage custom-image critters (each critter is drawn differently): $50-$100 depending upon complexity and number of critters
A litter/clutch of multi-stage, custom-image critters (egg/youth/adult, each drawn separately): $100+ depending upon complexity and number of critters (I'm assuming that you're going for more than two or three, here! It may be less if there are that few.)
Lineart, no shading: $50; you must credit me as the artist of the linework, however you may colour it and dispense adoptables using it as often as you like.
Lineart, including shading (sent as a psd): $150; you must credit me as the artist of the linework, however you may colour it and dispense adoptables using it as often as you like.

What I'll take Commissions For
• Dragons
• Humans and humanoids (think elves, fairies, zombies, robots, etc.)
• canine and feline critters
• critters that you have adopted from other artists
• critters of a species that you own
• Cosplays that do not violate copyright laws

What I would prefer not to take in Commissions
• Furries/Anthropomorphic creatures
• Horses (I'm sorry, I'm just not as versed with drawing 'em!)
• Content with sexual themes (Nuzzling, cuddling is okay, though anything beyond G-rated is not)
• Overly violent themes (Snarling, posturing, bruising and scratches are okay, though guts and gore are not.)
• Cosplays that violate copyright laws
• Adoptables that you do not have permission to own

If you have any questions about commissions, PM me! My turn-around rate is usually about two weeks, though smaller commissions can be finished faster, and more complex ones may take longer.

Rules
1) Do Not Take Images That Don't Belong To You! This goes for any and every adoptable on Deviantart and off of it. Please respect the artists and one another!

2) Link back to this page or to my main gallery when you page your dragon or critter!
• If you are paging your creature on deviantart, please credit me specifically as the artist in the upload's info!
• If you are paging your creature to a website, such as freewebs, please post the URL back to this gallery or my main gallery.
• Please toss me a link on my gallery's main page when you post something. I'd like to know where my critters wind up going!

3) In regards to breedings: I will take breedings with creatures compatible and given permission to breed to make clutches/litters/offspring. My creatures are all breedable with others that are compatible and which have permission to be used in such a fashion: in short, if you would like to draw a clutch of offspring, using one of my critters as a parent, go for it! Please link to the clutch as a comment to my gallery if you do so!

4) Keep things G-rated! This goes for any contests and re-draws that may occur over the course of this gallery's existence. Sexual content and extreme violence are not allowed.

5) Please respect copy-right laws for various cosplays and media-inspired critters; similarities between the adoptable and the original character that inspired it are okay to a certain extent, but direct copies are not.

(Rules and info are subject to change, especially as I get established. You may wish to re-read this entry again from time to time to get acquainted with any changes!)
